Three Kingdoms: Resurrection Of The Dragon (Poster)

A Not-So-Professional Review

The entire movie lasted 100 minutes, with a rating of NC-16 (due to some blood splattering scenes), and backed by strong casts from both China and Hong Kong. Andy Lau’s portrayal of Zhao Zilong is as expected, good. So were the rest of the actors, notably Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Han De and Cao Ying. The Zhuge Liang character is a bit comical, and adds some “not-so-serious” touch to the movie.

The turnout at an eastern movie complex is about 70% full on a Sunday evening. If one is expecting the classic “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” movie, then this isn’t the one. The movie tells the life and the heroic acts of a “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” character, Zhao Zilong. The movie is action-packed (30%), dramatised (40%), comical (20%), and with some not-really-important scene (10%). You can tell that most of the audience were touched (here sniff, and there sniff) as the movie gets to the finale.

In my personal opinion, I will grade the show 7 out of 10. It is an inspirational piece of work that should not be missed, and with proper parent’s guidance, I felt that a rating of PG would be sufficient (Parent can take this chance to educate the young ones about consequences of war and provide some extra moral education as well.)
