Dear Maplers,

Please be informed that there will be a Game Client Patch and Server Maintenance for MapleSEA on the 14th May 2008, from 0100 hrs (+8 GMT) to 15th May 2008, 0100 hrs (+8 GMT). The Game Service will be down during this period. Please logout before this time to avoid any loss of items.

For all existing Cash Items that were bought before 0100 hrs on 14th May 2008, the expiry date will be extended accordingly.

The upcoming patch includes:

I’m looking forward for the “Evil Jar Quest - 2x exp 2 hr event”. Shall hope that it is repeatable daily. Update (15-05-2008):

The client patch was re-scheduled to today early hours 0000 hrs to 1900 hrs (+8 GMT).
Once the manual client patch is out, we will mirror it here!

The “Level Up Event” wasn’t a free level up event as thought of. It might be to get you free maple leaf,  (level + 11), so if you are level up to 100, you’ll get (100 + 11) maple leaves. Read more here.

Some corrections. It seems that we are skipping v.055 and going into v.056 straight? Let’s hope it isn’t an administrative fault. Anyway, here’s the updated patch information.

  amount of quest per each world is completed by all users.
- Requirement to complete the Ulu city quest in SG map has added (monsters to be hunted)
- Party Quest “Monster Carnival” added, available at Speigelman.
- MapleSEA 3rd Anniversary event & quest added (May 14th ~ Jul 2nd):

    * Monsters will drop Maple items (weapon, shield, Maple Leaf)
    * Collected Maple items and Maple Leaf can be exchanged to 3rd Anniversary Maple weapon,
       shield, and exclusive scroll at Maple Administrator.
    * Maple Hat upgrade available at Maple Administrator.
    * Maple Earring Quest added.
    * Cassandra’s Fortune Telling event added.
    * Aramia’s Fireworks event added. Available at Aramia in Henesys.
    * Level Up event will be activated automatically when level up is accomplished.

In view of the extraordinary server down time for the game client patch on 15th of May 2008 between 0000hrs (+8 GMT) to 1900hrs (+8 GMT), we will be scheduling the following reimbursement plans for affected players.

For all existing Cash Items bought before 0000 hrs on 15th May 2008, the availability date will be extended for 1 more day.

2X EXP and 2X Drop Rate will take place on 19th May 2008 (Monday) for a period of 12 hours!

Triple Movie Review: Superhero Movie, Iron Man, What happens in Vegas

Okay. I’m lazy. Let’s Just summarise all 3 of them in one shot.

Watched “Superhero Movie” on Sunday, 27-04-2008. The movie lasted close to 90 mins, a PG rated movie with sexual content, violence, drug reference and language. It was a total disaster; I mean superhero funny! I give it a comedy rating of 7.5 out of 10. Forget about the plot as it will just flunk based on my personal expectation. If you want some good laughter similar to “Epic Movie” style, you should place your bet on this movie. The whole cinema crowd just couldn’t stop their laughter scenes after scenes!

The following Saturday, “Iron Man“. The movie lasted close to 130 mins, a PG rated movie with violence content. If you like Spiderman, Spiderman 2 and Spiderman 3, there is absolutely no reason for you to miss this fantastic Marvel Studio’s movie. Robert Downey Jr is the man! He brings out the full flavor of what Iron Man feels like. The movie is more CG intensive rather than fighting packed. Using real world scenario as a back drop, the genius, Tony Stark managed to escape from the evil terrorist group with Iron Man alpha version (built in a cave), and later developed a few more beta versions of Iron Man before completing the red, hot and sexy final product - Iron Man. I personally liked the ‘look and feel’ of the movie. A worth-watching rating of 8 out of 10. Oh Yeah! DO NOT LEAVE THE CINEMA UNTIL ALL THE CREDITS ARE SHOWN. There’s a short, few seconds scene at the end that probably hinted that we are going to see more of Iron Man in action in near future.

Finally, last Saturday, “What happens in Vegas“. The movie lasted close to 100 mins, a PG rated movie with sexual references. The hunk, Aston Kutcher as Jack Fuller, and the babe, Cameron Diaz as Joy McNally. The result? Drunken, hitched to one another after a one-night stand. The movie plot revolves around how 2 strangers who discovered they’ve gotten married after a one-night stand, and one of them winning a 3 million jackpot after playing the other’s quarter. By all means trying to keep the prize for themselves; they ended up falling in love along the way. The plot is romantic, Aston Kutcher is funny, Cameron Diaz is sexy, and the movie is worth 7.5 out of 10, not too bad for a romance genre’s film.

MIA 2 weeks - Maplestory Private Server?

I was MIA for 2 weeks, taking a short break but at the same time also doing some personal testing of private maplestory server (Sorry. No links here. But you can google for it.). Yes. I got it running on both linux and windows platform. It was cool. For windows platform, I run it on a 512MB Windows XP SP2 virtual machine. Pretty straight forward setup exactly based on the guide given. For linux platform, I run it on a VPS. There’s tweaking to be done. CPU utilisation is pretty low, however memory consumption was horrifying high, 512MB at least for a small test server.

The memory usage is horrifying. More than 512Mb.

Only 1 channel, but you can scale up to full 20 channels if you have the resources.

10,000x EXP rate if you notice, a LVL 120 dragon knight in less than an hour time.

10,000x Meso rate, basically you can adjust the rates anytime, anyhow.

1 billion mesoes - Server-side data are stored in a MySQL database which you have full access.

A NPC used to customise job advancement without questing.

In short, for personal testing, it’s fun. And, you have the power to take control of every game details. But, it is quite boring if there isn’t a strong player base. That’s what makes MMORPG interesting and fun.
